Mempool

A waiting area for unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions before they are included in a block.

What is Mempool?

A waiting area for unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions before they are included in a block. When setting up a $50K-$50M DLC loan through Lygos Finance, the funding transaction enters the mempool and must be confirmed on-chain before the fiat loan is disbursed.

Full Definition

The mempool (memory pool) is a dynamic list of unconfirmed transactions maintained by individual Bitcoin nodes. When a user sends Bitcoin, the transaction sits in the mempool until a miner selects it for the next block. If the mempool is congested, transactions with higher attached network fees are prioritized by miners.

How Lygos Uses This

When setting up a $50K-$50M DLC loan through Lygos Finance, the funding transaction enters the mempool and must be confirmed on-chain before the fiat loan is disbursed.

Why this matters for borrowers

Understanding Mempool helps you evaluate how different platforms handle your Bitcoin. Not all custody models are equal, and the technical details determine whether your BTC is truly safe.
